Flying to Australia
|
Hoping to take my mum to Australia for christmas to see some relatives. Has anyone flown there from London recently. I'm looking at premium economy for her and obviously the price around the time I'm looking at ( boxing day ) is fairly expensive. Have any of you flown economy at all ?
I have price alerts set up, I browse using chrome ( incognito setting ) and sometimes late at night, less traffic, and on different devices to work around the algorithms...

Planning to go back to australia next year. Norwegian to singapore on the dreamliner then another 5 hours from there to Perth. Not bad for £580

I flew back a few weeks ago after 3 weeks in UK/Europe, Emirates all the way in A380, s London-Dubai is about 6.5 hours but then Dubai-Sydney is over 14 hours!! But to be honest it wasn’t too bad even though most flights were full, things have changed in the leg room and seats from the old 747 days, personally I wouldn’t bother with premium economy it really isn’t what its cracked up to be, not that Emirates offer it, save your money, also would recommend a stopover to break the journey, Dubai is ok for a day or 2, see the sites etc and Emirates do some very good deals on stopovers.

Flying to the other side of the planet is expensive. Get over it.

Singapore Airlines may not be the cheapest but they're up there with the best, as Ted said earlier the A380 is comfortable even in economy, Air NZ is also top quality plus their 787 dreamliner fleet are the latest with plenty of leg room, going that distance I'd strongly advise a decent lay-over at Changi airport, each terminal has a transit hotel where a room can be booked for a minimum of 6 hours and then in further hourly blocks - 12 hours for approx £60

I went there in March in economy. Singapore Airlines are very good and have some of the prettiest stewardesses, although of course one can't be influenced by that these days. But avoid their partner airline Virgin Australia like the plague: we used them twice and each time regretted it. If Perth is your destination, BA now have a direct service which shortens the journey time considerably.

Malaysia are awful, Singapore much better. Qatar are very good.

Have a wood pigeon who has nested up in a 8-foot thuja in the garden. He's totally single, clearly a bit dim as we also have cats and yes, obviously male.

Apologies Nurse it was rather crass in retrospect. Birds (feathered variety) are my favourite species, no expert but if there is such a thing a reincarnation I want to return as one.
